Injection moulding with MuCell technique
For plastic injection moulding with MuCell, nitrogen is injected into the molten plastic mass prior to injection into the mould. This high-pressure production technique involves the ‘foaming’ of the material in the mould, with the walls of the product melting completely against the mould wall. The core of the product has a cellular structure consisting of small gas bubbles. This technique offers many advantages.
Benefits of MuCell injection moulding
- Cycle time is shorter because the material cools faster
- More design freedom because there is less chance of collapse
- Less raw material consumption due to addition of gas
- Weight savings through the internal cell structure
- Less chance of unwanted shrinkage of the product
- Cost savings due to shorter cycle time and less material
